Year 5 have been learning about the 3 elements needed to start a fire (safely) and where and when a fire can be lit!
All children followed the instructions emphatically, keeping themselves, others and the environment safe whilst practising their fire lighting skills!
Lots of determination and perseverance was evident during this activity, and for some that sheer determination paid off with the result of a flickering flame- well done year 5!
We also explored different natural textures using our sense of touch- this helped the children to understand what some animals in the wild need to be better at, in order to survive. It also gave children a greater understanding of how lucky we are to have all our senses and how challenging life can be for others that don’t.
